PTRS best practice is to test our gear and procedures once a month. We do that once a month on the 3rd day of the month following the nationally-developed 3-3-3 test plan.
The good thing about the 3-3-3 test plan is that it’s something that you do from wherever you are. What we are trying to do, though, is help other people get on board with routine use of radio by becoming completely familiar with the equipment and it’s use. We’re working on some training materials.
We’ll be at the Wearehouse barn on the 3rd, if you want to come in and learn how to use your radio, if you’re not sure. We’re “judgement-free” and will mentor you on how to use your radio. We’ll help you get to the next level in your skills and familiarity with communicating over the airwaves. After all, that’s what you’ll need to do in an emergency. Better to learn the skills now in non-emergency conditions.
A good intro to the 3-3-3 plan is in the video below.
At this meeting, we’ll make sure we’re all familiar with how to use our radios, and learn the basics of the test plan, then get ready to do the test at 21:00 local time (that’s 9:00 PM Eastern Time).
The meeting is free to Wearehouse club members (ask us how you can become a member). You can become a trial “day member” for $5 – we’ve got to contribute to paying the bills here, so we can help the Wearehouse thrive as THE place to go to learn more skills and how to create ABC – A Better Community!
