AI takes over the world! This is an early depiction of what could happen when computers spontaneously begin talking to each other… Yikes!
This is another 70’s movie after the Planet of the Apes and 2001: A Space Odyssey. A cult classic with more things for us to consider as we wonder “Which Dystopia?” are we headed for…

Colossus: The Forbin Project (originally released as The Forbin Project) is a 1970 American science-fiction thriller film from Universal Pictures, produced by Stanley Chase, directed by Joseph Sargent, that stars Eric Braeden, Susan Clark, Gordon Pinsent, and William Schallert. It is based upon the 1966 science-fiction novel Colossus by Dennis Feltham Jones.[3]
The film is about an advanced American defense system, named Colossus, becoming sentient. After being handed full control, Colossus’ draconian logic expands on its original nuclear defense directives to assume total control of the world and end all warfare for the good of humankind, despite its creators’ orders to stop.[4]

We hope to see you at the Freedom Film Festival Friday at our new venue, the Weare Public Library (near 6 North Stark Highway, Weare). A $5 donation is suggested for costs – we’ll start producing printed handouts soon to distribute at other events.
This week we want to add a time segment for “newsreels” – quick video reports about the news of the week. You’re welcome to show a short clip of what you think it’s important for our audience to see. We’ll develop this format more as we see what works.
Also, let’s set a 18:15 deadline for getting in on a pizza order to Dimitri’s. That way whoever runs for pizza can be back in time for the start of the evening’s movie.

Telegram group comment: Awesome idea for non propaganda news reel.

I have to admit a boo-boo on my part. I introduced a video confession of Stanley Kubrick’s to filming the moon landing for NASA and the gov’t. I only learned about it last weekend and it turns out it’s likely a fake, done by an actor for a mockumentary about “the moon landing hoax”. I had never read the comments and took it at face value, but the commenters named the actor and the producer of the mockumentary. The video is below, near the bottom of the page in the attached videos section.
The “group mind” in attendance helped set me straight that this was definitely not credible… all i had to do was read the comments, duh…

One attender wondered aloud “why people would question the moon landing, because it was all documented”… The answer to that was that libertarians are all about truth and justice and that it was natural to question this, once there was any hint of deception, since the government is the largest purveyor of lies and has perpetrated the most injustice in the world. Libertarians are the first on the scene to question things that have the appearance of government (secret agency) military or psychological operations.
I think it’s a conservative tendency to not question the government because that’s more patriotic (“why do you hate your country?” – by questioning the official story… of 9/11, …of Iraq weapons of mass destruction, etc.)
The reasons to question the moon landing narrative are numerous – a good intro video on that is Bart Sibrel’s “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Moon”. There are other more in-depth investigations of interest… I’m still not sure what to believe is the truth!

Another newsreel item was Chris Martenson’s “Citizens Investigation” of the Trump shooting 2 weeks ago. Chris seems to be a dedicated researcher, a fact/evidence seeker… he seems legit.

The other news item was the Crowdstrike bug that crashed computers everywhere:

There were a few other newsy items we briefly looked at:
1) I suggest everyone look back at this debate between Sam Konkin (the inventor/discoverer of agorism) and Robert Poole of the Reason Foundation: https://youtu.be/SSWj_ksCVb8?si=d9J90yuApQPzHDK_
This ^^ is to answer a question: “What’s the difference between a libertarian and a conservative reformer?” This arose because I mentioned that the Koch brothers involvement in the libertarian movement had taken it down the path of reformism (and away from actual libertarianism).
2) Why is it almost impossible to find a copy of Colossus; the Forbin Project? : https://youtu.be/e73_DpFp9uM?si=Cu9F2neNcYkbaJ8O
Also, what about the AI predictions from Colossus:
3) Music by Steely Dan about our scientifically-run future world, IGY: https://youtu.be/Ueivjr3f8xg?si=EXDYPu4yVBI3gzcG
4) Another possible Which Dystopia? film to put into the queue, 1959’s “On the Beach”: https://youtu.be/1DMbRm7HAQw?si=QlqBWLJ-O7eI8-yh
