Monthly meeting of the Pine Tree Radio Society
Manchester Makerspace Saturday, 11 January 2025
PTRS started nearly 3 years ago, founded by people concerned about continuing to have free communications, while most internet-based systems were experiencing increasing censorship and control.
We’ll present our basic emergency communications plan for New Hampshire and what technologies already exist to make that plan possible.
A technology that is very promising is Meshtastic, an inexpensive and compact, easy-to-use mesh networking system. We’ll have products on display and for sale and we’ll set up some new, just out-of-the-box, Meshtastic radios and demonstrate the basic features. This will show non-techie newcomers how they can become part of the emergency communications network, without a lot of radio theory or a ham license.
We always encourage people to show and tell about their radio equipment and experiments. Also, feel free to bring items to sell on the side tables.
Join us from 11:00 to 1:00, and yeah, we usually linger and sometimes continue the conversations over a late lunch.
Also, we suggest a $5 donation to our hosts, the Manchester Makerspace.
