Freedom Film Festival

Films every Saturday in the downstairs Community Room of the Weare Public Library. We bring you films of all genres and eras, as long as they have a pro-freedom theme. And, it’s a good time to get together once a week at a 200 year-old library to enjoy each other and discuss the ideas in these cinematic creations. We always allow you to make announcements and to host a buy/sell/trade market-style side table.

It’s not a festival that just goes on for one weekend … it’s a festival that goes on all year and every week.

We’ll have special film series, like “Which Dystopia? (are we in)” and the “Rabbit Hole Review”. Look for our individual FreeState.app event listings to see what we’ll watch that week. You should also see the individual film night listings on fsp.org/calendar, Telegram and in Signal groups.

We have recently started “Newsreels” where each attender is invited to screen a short (5 min or less) video news item from the week to share with the crowd.

Sometimes, we’ll find something that’s particularly timely given current events, or we may go down a rabbit hole of interest to our community.

The films we screen are pulled from the vast pantheon of cinematic attempts at representing the cause of freedom. …AND we welcome your suggestions for films we should show, too.

You are welcome to bring your own snacks or drinks (non-alcoholic), and we can order pizza which we can share (donations requested).

Come on over to the Weare Public Library for the Freedom Film Festival. It’s just 2 buildings south of the classic old Town Hall on the hill. (the building on the left as you go up the short lane is the American Legion hall.)

A donation of 1 Goldback or FRN$5 to cover costs helps keep this going. We occasionally have to pay a license or rental fee for a film and we have the cost of this website and printing.

Don’t hesitate to come if you think you can’t afford it – we want you to experience the education and the joy of watching the weekly fare. You can pay it forward later or help with cleanup the night of the film.

The library is just 2 buildings south of the classic old Town Hall on Route 114 (North Stark Highway). If your map app can’t find 10 Paige Memorial Lane, try 6 North Stark Hwy). The library is on the right at the end of the lane and our entrance is the lower level right side of the building door.
